This is the only tour to The Hunter Region that offers the real Aussie Outback, history, Aboriginal Culture and Wine tasting in a full one day of complimenting experiences. Meet some of the locals, travel through beautiful National Parks, learn of the harsh settlers days and convict conditions as they worked here to establish the European Australia. Then look back to what it was like for Australian Aboriginals before and after white people arrived

Day 1 Sydney – Hunter Valley (L)
7.30AM: We collect you at your Sydney accommodation and departing the city, we travel north over the Sydney Harbour Bridge via the Gore Hill Freeway to join the Pacific Highway and then the F3 Freeway. Crossing the Hawkesbury River we leave the Freeway to travel on sealed roads through the Yengo National Park. Here we travel through contrasting rural farmland and Australian Natural Bush, mountains ranges and grazing land. Enroute we view several sections of the original convict built Old Great Northern Road. This road, built in the 1820’s was considered to be one of the world’s great engineering feats of this time and is an exceptional example of English road building. We stop to enjoy a delightful morning tea before continuing through the historic Wollombi village, established in the early 19 th Century and a wonderful example of the small colonial rural townships of this era.

Departing Wollombi, our journey takes us over Mt View where we gain a panoramic perspective of the Hunter Valley wine areas. From here we travel to the first of our Boutique Wineries to sample premium Hunter Wines before adjourning to a renowned Vineyard Café to enjoy our lunch. After lunch we visit another respected boutique winery to sample more of the Hunter Valley’s famous wines and you have the opportunity to purchase wines that are not available anywhere else. Arrive at your choice of accommodation approximately 2.30pm with the remainder of the afternoon yours to relax at the property.

Day 2 Hunter Valley – Sydney (B)
After breakfast we transfer you to join The Hunter Valley Wine School which commences daily at 9.00am and is an informal tutorial of wine education. Walk through the on site vineyard of 30 year old Shiraz vines and discuss matters viticultural. Then it’s off to the crusher and into the Winery to see the air bag presses, huge tanks, the Potter Fermenters, the filtration equipment, and the largest Rotovats in the Hunter. From there, the tour then moves through into the Oak Cask maturation area, and on into the Wine Tasting Cellars. An informal wine tutorial and tasting follows. On completion of the wine school you return to your accommodation to check out and time at leisure. (Lunch own Expense)

2.00PM: You are collected from your accommodation and continue on to a final wine tasting before commencing our return journey to Sydney via the freeway to arrive at your city hotel at approximately 5.30pm arrival.

What to bring and wear: Luggage space is at a premium in tour vehicles. We request that you take only those items required for this 2 day tour, with excess luggage being stored at your Sydney Hotel for you.

Departures: Sunday – Friday subject to accommodation availability. Tour is not available over a Saturday night due to the restrictions imposed by the Hunter Properties – a minimum 2 night stay is required when incorporating a Saturday Night..

Tour departs from City Hotels from 7.30AM and returns on Day 2 at approximately 5.30 – 6.00pm.

Inclusions: Return Hotel Transfers, morning tea x 1, lunch x 1, 1 nights accommodation – your choice of Hunter Resort or Peppers Guest House, breakfast x 1, Hunter Resort Wine School including return transfers if at Peppers Guest House, Wine tastings as per itinerary.

Tour Excludes: Beverages with meals, Dinner Day 1, Lunch on Day 2, Items of a personal nature and any additional touring outside of itinerary inclusions.
