WALKING THE SOUTH COAST... this tour is an exploration of the beautiful national parks along the south coast of NSW and Victoria's East Gippsland.

DAY 1 Monday 27 February

An early start has us at Minnamurra Falls walking with the lyre birds and enjoying the rainforest before morning tea. We then climb the escarpment stopping off at Barren Ground, Carrington Falls and Fitzroy Falls for short walks before travelling back down through Kangaroo Valley and Nowra and on to our overnight destination at the historic convict built Coolangatta Estate. (overnight Coolangatta Historic Resort) 200km

DAY 2 Tuesday 28 February

Today we have morning tea at George Boyd Lookout and a rainforest walk along the edge of Morton National Park Escarpment. Then our route takes us down the coast to the North Head Walking Track at Ulladulla – an interpretive walk put together by the Budawang Aboriginals and Shoalhaven Council. After lunch, our afternoon walks include the largest aboriginal midden site on the south coast at Murramarang, and the Guerrilla Bay walking track south of Bateman’s Bay. We then head for our destination for the next two nights, Narooma. (next two nights Festival Motor Inn). 150km; easy walking.

DAY 3 Wednesday 01 March

Depending on weather conditions we visit Montague Island for a walking tour in the morning and enjoy a walk to Mt Dromedary after lunch with afternoon tea at Central Tilba. Time for a stroll on the boardwalk at Wagonga Inlet before joining Charlie Bettini for a sunset cruise and dinner on the inlet. 50km; 3km of easy walking.

DAY 4 Thursday 02 March

Leaving Narooma we call in briefly to Mystery Bay then it’s on to sections of the Bermagui Coast walk before morning tea on the shores of Wallaga Lake. Following the coast south through Bermagui we stop for a walk and lunch in Mimosa Rocks National Park. More walking in Mimosa and a stop at Tathra’s famous wharf before reaching “Ngairin” on Tanja Lagoon (next two nights Ngairin). 70km; 2km of easy walking.

DAY 5 Friday 03 March

Some choices today – easy short walks and relaxing around Ngairin or tackle the longer Kangarutha Track with its spectacular coastal scenery. The choice is yours.

DAY 6 Saturday 04 March

Continuing south today we walk in Ben Boyd National Park (North) at the Pinnacles and Ben Boyd National Park (South) at Davidson Whaling Station and Boyds Tower. Then it’s on to Nadgee Wilderness area for walks before reaching Gipsy Point on the Mallacoota Inlet for the next two nights. (next two nights Gipsy Point Luxury Lakeside Apartments) 185km; easy walking

DAY 7 Sunday 05 March

A day of enjoying the walks and views within Croajingolong National Park. 30km

DAY 8 Monday 06 March

Travelling inland from Gipsy Point we pass though the small towns of Genoa and Cann River, stopping for walks in the small remnant rainforest patches before again heading for the coast at Cape Conran Coastal Park. We stop for afternoon tea at Marlo, where the Snowy flow into Bass Strait. Then we follow the banks of the river to our overnight destination of Orbost. (overnight Countryman Motor Inn) 150km

DAY 9 Tuesday 07 March

A longer driving day today as we head north through Delegate, Bombala and Nimmitabel on our way to Cooma. Still time for walking though in this remote country. (Overnight Sovereign Motor Inn Cooma) 300km.
