Ossie’s has been offering Outback Experiences to travellers since 1993, initially on Horseback now by custom built 4WDs. Our aim is to offer Travellers to Central Australia the opportunity to experience the more remote outback areas surrounding Alice Springs. A genuine 4WD experience in a small group, nature & historically based format. Ideal for specific interest groups – photographers; artists; writers; bird watchers; field naturalists. Also well suited to anyone with a sense of adventure; love of nature and a desire to experience the essence of the remote outback areas surrounding Alice Springs & Central Australia. Experience the Red Sand Dunes, Mirages & Thermal Pools of the Simpson Desert away from the crowds. Marvel at the splendour of the icons Uluru, Kata Tjuta & Kings Canyon. Off road on the Tanami to Newhaven Bird Reserve with its diverse ecosystems & spectacular scenery. Meet Territorian Outback characters. Enjoy unique Aboriginal Bush Tucker and Cultural opportunities. For those short of time Spend an afternoon Four wheel Driving along Owen Springs station tracks & in the Hugh River where the Explorer John Stuart rode in 1860. Complete the day with Chicken & Champagne at Rainbow Valley for Sunset. Whether accommodated or camping we travel in comfort and cater accordingly as we travel on “Tracks less Traversed”.

Day 1 (L,D) South East to our first stop the Aboriginal Community of Santa Teresa. See mirages and climb big red sand dunes that you’ve only imagined. Visit rare Acacia Peuce 'Waddy Trees' in the driest part of Australia. Along the Old Andado Track to Molly Clarks Pioneer Homestead in the Simpson Desert. We traverse the Southern Hemisphere’s largest private Cattle Station 'Andado'. Through the Finke River Floodout and across the NT-SA Border to Mt Dare Hotel,a unique remote Oasis for man & birds in far north South Australia. Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at Mt Dare offers the opportunity to mingle with locals and Simpson Desert Travellers. Day 2 (B,L,D) Birding & nature walks for early risers around Mt Dare Hotel. After a Homestead breakfast we travel through Witjira National Park to Dalhousie Homestead ruins, where a Pioneer operated a Sheep Station in 1872. Smoko, swim & relax in the nearby Dalhousie Thermal Springs. You will really begin to feel the remoteness of the desert as we travel in 'real' camel country to Federal, as the Afghans did over 100 years ago. Campfire Lunch & Billy Tea amongst Sand Dunes & Mulga Scrub. Return, via Blood Creek sheep station ruins, to Mt Dare Hotel for a relaxing evening. Day 3 (B,L) Farewells at Mt Dare. Onto Finke Township where we run parallel to the Old Ghan embankment and the finish line of the Finke Desert Race Track. Bundooma to Alice Well. This Historical village site (1887 to 1911) is accessed by only a small number of Modern travellers. Northwards along beautiful Red Sand Track which follows a remaining section of the Old Telegraph Line to Titjikala. Continue our journey to the Historic Chambers Pillar. Time here to walk, reflect and enjoy the remote and beautiful outback desert region before returning to Alice Springs.
