4WD Safari North and Cruise back to Cairns (Drive/Cruise)

Day 1 (LD): Daintree rainforest and, weather permitting, Cape Tribulation and the Bloomfield Track. Lion's Den Hotel and Black Mountain on the way to Cooktown. Cooktown Overnight.

Day 2 (BLD): Battlecamp Road to Lakefield National Park's waterlily covered billabongs, wildlife and a great variety of birdlife. Overnight at Lotus Bird Lodge.

Day 3 (BLD): Coen and Archer River on the way to Weipa on the Gulf of Carpentaria. Weipa tonight.

Day 4 (BLD): Tour Weipa’s mine or a half-day fishing (both optional). Travel on to the Wenlock River to overnight at Moreton’s permanent tent safari camp.

Day 5 (BLD): 4WD adventure and fun on the famous Telegraph Track. Fruit Bat Falls to lunch and swim then cross the Jardine River to Bamaga. We stay at Resort Bamaga for two balmy nights.

 

Day 6 (BLD): Visit the Lockerbie Scrub and historic Somerset. Now, an emotional walk to the very top of Australia, CAPE YORK!

Day 7 (BD): Cruise to Thursday Island and tour the island (included). Lunch (own expense) then board "Coral Princess" to begin your cruise to Cairns.

Day 8 (BLD): Cruise through Albany Passage passing Somerset, the Escape River and on to see the brilliant white sands of Shelburne Bay.

Day 9 (BLD): Explore Forbes Island with its history of early settlement. Swim and snorkel then visit to Magra Island to beachcomb and bird-watch.

Day 10 (BLD): Stanley Island’s fascinating Endaen Aboriginal rock art gallery seldom visited due to its isolation. At Davey Reef & Cay snorkel, view coral, scuba dive and observe a large seabird rookery.

Day 11 (BLD): Lizard Island and "Cook's Look”. North Direction Island to beachcomb and swim before enjoying sunset drinks on the beach.

Day 12 (BLD): Historic Cooktown and the James Cook Historical Museum. Swinger Reef to swim and snorkel. The day ends with the Captain’s Farewell Dinner.

Day 13 (BL): Our final Great Barrier Reef experience with a morning of snorkelling, scuba diving and coral viewing at Thetford Reef. Arrive in Cairns mid afternoon.
