Itinerary:

Day One - 2 hrs walking, 3kms

1. Leave the Old Woolstore at 8.15 am for travel from Hobart to Coles Bay, taking in sweeping views of the Freycinet Peninsula. Guests enjoy morning tea at the historic Spiky Bridge near Swansea.

2. Depart the Coles Bay jetty aboard ‘The Naturaliste’ for a visit to Schouten Island.  After a picnic lunch, take a walk up Bear Hill or fish for flathead in Schouten Passage with our Coxswain Shep.

3. Guests are transported to the award winning Friendly Beaches Lodge to relax and enjoy a dinner of fresh fish and Tasmanian wine, listening to the crashing waves of Friendly Beaches.

Day Two - 5-8 hrs walking time, 12-16kms

1. Walkers are transferred early from Friendly Beaches Lodge to Coles Bay where they again depart to enjoy a boat trip to Cooks Beach.

2. Choose from a peaceful walk through sclerophyll forests and beaches to the renowned Wineglass Bay or select the more challenging walk to the top of Mt Graham (579m above sea level) descending to Wineglass Bay via the spectacular Quartzite Ridge.

3. Both walks arrive at Wineglass Bay late in the afternoon, a perfect time for a swim in its clear turquoise waters. Guests then return to Friendly Beaches Lodge via a small coach to enjoy a refreshing shower before drinks and dinner.

Day Three - 6 hrs walking time, 12 kms

1. Walkers are transferred by 4 wheel drive to Bluestone Bay.  Here you will explore the geological formations of the White Water Walls and Little Bluestone Bay before climbing to the Bluestone Bay cliff tops.

2. Head off through pristine bush following a track used by the Oyster Bay Tribe, featuring giant Zantharea (Grass Trees) and the exceptionally rare flowering Epacris Barbata.  Arrive at the red lichen rocks at the beautiful south Friendly Beaches headland.

Day Four - 3 hrs walking time, 6 kms

1. Rise early for some surf fishing or sleep in.  After breakfast an optional walk takes guests along a ridge line packed with fossils and a descent to Saltwater Lagoon - nesting ground to black swans and pelicans.

2. After an exceptional lunch, guests walk North along the Friendly Beaches to Isaac’s Point, where they are met by our bus and return to Hobart by 5.30pm.

  3.  Walk along the dazzling white sands of Friendly Beaches to arrive at the Lodge where cool drinks and homemade afternoon tea await you.  Savour a well deserved meal and then relax with a glass of wine by the roaring fire.
