When time is limited, travel on a charter air tour to remote outback places of Australia. All tours depart from Melbourne. Small group tours ensure personal service. If you have your own group of friends, structure the holiday to your own individual interests or time frame. Travel South & Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, Tasmania ,New South Wales and of course to Pungalina Station.

Day One: Melbourne - Andamooka - Ayers Rock Depart Melbourne early in a comfortable twin-engine aircraft. Fly over Wilpena Pound in the Southern Flinders Ranges via Mildura if necessary for fuel, then over the vast dry lake of Lake Torrens before landing at Andamooka Opal town at about 11am. We then take a short tour with Margot Duke of this unusual rugged yet quaint outback opal town. A visit to Albert's underground house/mine and the old historic cottages are a must. A light lunch and then we depart at 1.30 pm for William Creek for fuel and maybe a quick drink in this famous pub near the edge of Lake Eyre. Leaving there at 3 pm we fly 2 hours with a scenic flight over Ayers Rock and the Olga's and then land at the modern Yulara resort. View the spectacular sunset before dinner. ACCOM: THE OUTBACK PIONEER HOTEL/MOTEL... YULARA... http://www.ayersrockresort.com.au/outback/ Day Two: Yulara (Ayers Rock) - Kings Canyon View the sunrise if desired. Then drive out to Ayers Rock for a tour of the base (with Aboriginal paintings, caves, rock pools, etc.). The climb is not encouraged nowdays by request from the aborigine community. At midday we depart Yulara for Kings Creek Station. This is a 30 minute flight and we arrive at 12:30 to this outback camel station. Accommodation is in twin share tents with outback "air" eating areas. Lunch is on arrival , then at 1.30pm we take a 25 minute drive along the edge of the Giles Range to Kings Canyon. A 3 hour walk through this magnificient ancient canyon is a must. A mighty cleft with sheer walls over 200 metres high amidst an oasis of palms and rock pools. At 5.30 pm we are picked up for our 25 min drive back to the Station for dinner. ACCOM: KINGS CREEK STATION .....twin share tents with beds. http://www.kingscreekstation.com.au Day Three: Kings Canyon - Mount Borradaile (Arnhem Land) After an early breakfast we depart at 8am for Mt Borradaile....Davidson's Arnhem Land Safari Camp. This is a long flight of about 4.5 hrs. After one hour, land at Yuendemu for fuel and a brief look at some aboriginal paintings in this remote town aboriginal town. This is a good chance to purchase paintings and some artefacts locally made by the community. Then fly another 3.5 hours via Tindal for fuel before landing at Mt Borradaile in Arnhem Land at 3.30pm. This day we have lunch in the air which helps to break the long flight. A 2 minute drive from the airstrip and we book into the camp. Late afternoon enjoy a magnificent sunset cruise on the billabong where there is abundant birdlife and crocodiles for you to see. This is an exclusive Aboriginal cultural experience and wildlife adventure, in a most beautiful and exciting wilderness area. At Mt. Borradaile all accommodation is twin-share tented accommodation, with comfortable beds, dining facilities and shared toilet/shower facilities. All meals are supplied by Max Davidson the local tour operator. ACCOM: DAVIDSON'S SAFARI CAMP at MT. BORRADAILE http://www.arnhemland-safaris.com Day Four: Mount Borradaile A full day is spent at Mt. Borradaile with activities moulded to your interests - the most popular event is the drive and walk out to "Major art". This is an area of magnificent aboriginal rock art and burial sites. There are few places in Australia that can show such an exhibition. This takes a full morning and we return for a late lunch again around 2.30pm. In the afternoon, other shorter art tours can be arranged, or a swim or a fish for barramundi. For the keen bird watchers, another billabong cruise may be the preferred option. Dinner is once again at the camp where stories can be heard and told of the days events. ACCOM: DAVIDSON'S SAFARI CAMP at MT. BORRADAILE Day Five: Mount Borradaile - Oenpelli - Pungalina After breakfast fly 10 minutes to Oenpelli for refuelling. Oenpelli, an Aboriginal town near the border of Arnhem Land and Kakadu, has an excellent Aboriginal art gallery just down the road from the airstrip. Well worth a quick visit for those interested to purchase paintings and artefacts. A two hour walk is also recommended for those keen on aboriginal rock art. This is escorted by local aborigines and the art is magnificent. At about 11.30, we depart for Pungalina Station via Borroloola for fuel. This flight we have lunch in the air, arriving at Pungalina around 2pm. The transfer to the camp is in open air vehicles and takes about 10 minutes. Once booked into your tents , a cool refreshing dip in the spring next to the camp is well worth it before we head off for drinks before sunset on the Calvert River gorge. Dinner is back at the campsite. ACCOM: PUNGALINA SAFARI CAMP www.pungalinasafaris.com.au Day Six: Pungalina This is a 500,000 acre property that is truly a wilderness experience. Accommodation is safari twin share tent style in a great grassy environment. A great advantage is the swimming possibility at the camp site...particularly worthwhile after a long hot day. There are many activities including a drive up to the actual coast which consumes the entire day.A full day touring around the property to swimming holes, maybe fishing for barramundi , canoeing or viewing a fabulous limestone cave is all possible depending on your preference. ACCOM: PUNGALINA SAFARI CAMP Day Seven: Pungalina - Sweers Island The morning is spent continuing to tour the Pungalina property. After lunch we depart at 12:30pm for Sweers Island. Arriving at 1pm we book into our cabins ( 10 minutes from the airstrip) and then take boats out onto the sea for some exciting fishing. That night dinner is in the open air Sweers Island "bar/dinning area" which is a fabulous contrast to the previous few days. ACCOM: SWEERS ISLAND RESORT http://www.sweers.com.au/ Day Eight: Sweers Island - Lawn Hill - Birdsville Depart the stunning beauty of Sweers Island at about 9 am to arrive at the most spectacular gorge in the Gulf country - Lawn Hill Gorge. Sheer red cliffs, unusual green water, luxurious tropical rainforest-like vegetation, surrounded by flat barren countryside. With waterfalls, natural bubbling spas, swimming, boating, and beautiful walks, it's a great place to relax. We drive 20 minutes to the gorge then paddle canoes up the creek to a great swimming area and take a short climb to view the gorge from the escarpment. We have lunch before paddling the canoes back and then depart at about 1.30pm for Birdsville. This is a 3 hour flight and we arrive at the hotel in time for sunset drinks at the bar. Dinner that night is in the famous Birdsville hotel. ACCOM: BIRDSVILLE HOTEL / MOTEL....twin share units Day Nine: Birdsville - Innamincka -Arkaroola After breakfast , a 1 hr tour of the unusual Birdsville Working Museum. This is a great collection of all old and working outback memorabilia. We depart for Innamincka at 10am arriving at 11am. Here we take a cruise down the Cooper Creek to see abundant birdlife and a memorial of King who was one of the fatal Burke and Wills expedition. Lunch is at the hotel and then about 3pm we fly to Balcanoona on the edge of the Gammon Ranges. This is a 70 minute flight and we are then transported 40 minutes to the Arkaroola Resort in the northern Flinders Ranges. After dinner a tour of the Flinders Ranges Astronomical Observatory is a fascinating and worthwhile experience. ACCOM: ARKAROOLA RESORT...twin share air conditioned units http://www.arkaroola.com.au Day Ten: Arkaroola - Broken Hill - Melbourne After breakfast be exhilarated by the stunning 4hr RIDGE TOP TOUR - the "most spectacular mountain scenic tour in Australia". Narrow trails scramble over razor back ridges and views extend 80kms to Lake Frome and beyond. After lunch enjoy a scenic flight over the Ranges en route to Melbourne, via Broken Hill arriving home at about 7pm
